Fanfic for Fishy 2010 by ~RandomGlompGirl:iconRandomGlompGirl:

A.K.A. Dark Rain.
A RikuxDemyx fanfic.
To my readers: I honestly swear, I have no set feelings for this pairing, since there is hardly anything out there for it.  Except for Fishy’s stuff, man... HE CAN WRITE!  So this is for him. Enjoy! *blow kisses*
I’m sorry Fishy, but I was exploring my emotional writing...
Sorry if I made anyone seem wimpish. *bows humbly*

It had been a month since they had returned to the islands, and Riku was puzzled. Sure they had defeated Organization thirteen, and yea they had destroyed a lot of heartless but something still didn’t sit quite right with him. And no amount of prodding from Sora and Kairi would get him to reveal exactly what.  His thoughts had been on a particular member of the Organization, the one who didn’t really fight, the one Sora defeated, Demyx.  What was puzzling was, why would such a weak fighter, get into such a powerful group?  Well, soon after getting back to the islands, school started up again.  And that is when Riku’s world got flipped inside out and upside down.

Riku did well in school, as expected, and Sora well, Sora was better at playing hero, then doing equations and grammar exercises.  So Riku tutored him, as any good friend would do.  It was probably the second week when he thought he saw a familiar red head in the hall.  He, Sora and Kairi were heading to their last hour class, when glaring him right in the face, was familiar spiky red hair.  How? He could have sworn that the pyro had killed himself to save Sora.  He elbowed the brunette that was busy chatting with his girlfriend about this teacher, and that project.
“Hey Sora?” Riku’s eyes following the shock of red hair that stood out against the usual blondes and brunettes.
“What Riku?” Sora looked up at him, trying to read the aquamarine eyes for what he was thinking.
“Does that look like Axel?” Sora looked where he pointed, and nodded.
“It does, but I don’t think it is.” It was at that instant though, a blonde shoved past them, looked back at them, and scoffed before walking away. Sora recognized her instantly, those ice cold blue eyes, that cruel smirk and the two odd bangs that stuck up from her head like antennas.
“That was Larxene! What the hell?” Sora was astonished to say the least, but Riku was ignoring him.  Because at that moment, the red head had stopped by a classroom, and out walked a dirty blonde with a mullet.  His heart fell down to his feet, his breath quickened for just a second, and every part of his body was screaming as he watched the musician and the pyro began heading down the hallway they were walking.
“Riku? What’s wrong? You look paler then usual.” Kairi’s voice broke the trance he had been in, he shook it off, and attempted a smirk.

“I’m fine, just surprising that the dead are walking the islands.”
“Nice one Riku, but we got to hurry up, or we’ll be late for class.”  Kairi poked him in the side, and he just shook his head.  What the hell was he supposed to do now?

“Alright class, take your seats, and take your seats!” The teacher, Mrs. Crabapple motioned for the class of wild teens to take their seats.  As the noise level lowered and students started to pull out notebooks and mechanical pencils for notes, a knock at the door, got the history teacher’s attention.
“Excuse me students, this will take but a moment.” She went to the door, and since Riku had the desk closest to the door, he could hear the voice that spoke to their teacher.
“Hello, I’m one of the transfer students. My name is Demyx Edym.  And I’m supposed to be in here this hour.” The voice was shy and quiet, just like he remembered from the brief second he had met him in The World that Never Was.  But that had been when he had been searching for Roxas.
“Ah! Come in come in! We always have a spot for a student in this class!” Throwing the door open wide, she stepped back to reveal the transfer student.

Walking into the classroom, the teenager looked around, it felt so weird having so many people stare at you, all at once. He sighed and waved politely.
“Hi! I’m Demyx Edym, I just transferred here from the coast.” He smiled sheepishly, a fist tightening on the shoulder strap of his messenger bag.
“Well Demyx, take a seat next to Mr. Terra.”  She motioned over to the empty seat that sat next to Riku.  Riku’s pulse raced as the nobody moved and sat down in the empty seat.  Taking out a notebook and pencil, just like the rest of them. Ready to take notes, and be bored for an hour that they’d never get back.
“So class today we will be discussing-” Demyx began to take notes, he could feel three pairs of eyes on him, he already knew why.  He was supposed to be dead.  But here he was, taking notes, and praying for the last bell.  He couldn’t explain it either, but he snuck a glance over at the starlight haired teen that sat next to him. His aquamarine eyes were also sneaking glances at him.  But he couldn’t feel resentment, or even anger coming from him.  More like a cautious feeling. He glanced up at the teacher, she had her back to them, and he quickly jotted something down, then kicked it over to him.

Riku saw the note, and was a little surprised, but maybe he was going to explain just what in the hell he was doing here. So making sure that the teacher wasn’t paying attention, reached down and picked up the note. It was too quiet in the class room to read it right then and there, so he stuffed it in his notebook, to read once it was a bit noisier.  But glancing over into those sea colored eyes, his head began to spin.

Well that chance never came, because she droned on and on and was still talking even as the class fled for the door and freedom.
“Hey Riku? What did that note say?” Sora asked, prodding him for an answer.
“I don’t know, haven’t read it yet.” He answered simply.
“Well, open it and read it!” Kairi now squealed excitedly. Riku just rolled his eyes.

“Hey.” All three teens turned, and standing behind them, was a blonde, with upswept hair, and light blue eyes.
“Whoa! How in the hell can you be here? I haven’t lost my heart or anything!” Sora gasped. Roxas held up a hand to tell him to chill.
“Sora, calm down. I don’t know why I’m here either.  But seeing as how almost all of the organization is now walking around the school, it should be pretty obvious that most of them don’t mean any harm... at the moment.” It sounded like a warning.
“So, does that mean Namine is here too?” Kairi asked.
“Yea, I’m supposed to be meeting with her. Do you guys want to come with?” Kairi had become friends with her nobody quite easily, so she nodded happily, Sora followed to keep an eye on them.  Riku told them he’d see them later, and headed towards the doors.  Once he was sure he was far enough away, he ducked into an empty classroom, and read the note.

“Riku, I know you, Sora and Kairi are wondering what members of Organization thirteen are doing in your school.  Well to tell you the truth, I don’t know.  If you’re willing to meet up with me later, I can explain what I do know. Just listen and you’ll find me.” Riku stared at the note, what the hell? Was he ten years old and on a scavenger hunt?  And why was his heart beating so fast? And why did it feel like at any second, he would burst into jubilant song? He shook his head again.  What the hell was happening to him?

Since he was curious on what Demyx had to say, Riku headed into the town square, listening to the sound of the waves crashing against the beach nearby, the wind whistling through the palm trees, seagulls squawking at each other over who got what piece of fish. He hadn’t been paying attention when he suddenly heard a melody. It was simple and calm, and seemed to blend into the ruckus of the island town. Remembering Demyx’s note, he followed it, listening as it got louder and louder. Then unexpectedly, he ran into someone a little taller then himself. The person turned around and smiled.
“Hi Riku!”
“Sorry about that Demyx, I didn’t mean to run into you like that.” He looked down, avoiding the other’s eyes.  But he could feel a little heat fly to his cheeks.
“It’s no problem, I wasn’t really paying attention myself.” Riku noticed how he smiled easily, although seeing the nobody had him a little on edge. That’s when he noticed that a small gaggle of children that were standing around him, staring at him with giant pleading eyes.
“I’m sorry kids, but I have to go.” The kids awed in unison before heading off in their own directions.
“Why were those kids here?”  Riku stared after the children, some looked familiar and some were new to him.
“Well, when I’m nervous I play my sitar.  And I guess they liked it.”  He grinned sheepishly, placing a hand behind his head as he looked down at the other.
“Nervous? Why would a nobody be nervous?” His voice sounded colder then he had wanted, but he crossed his arms and tried to look serious.
“Well, that’s part of what I have to explain, because, you see, I’m not a nobody anymore.”

~

“So let me get this straight, you and all of the other members of the organization, have hearts now?” Riku and Demyx were sitting in the café. Riku had a cup of coffee in front of him, while Demyx just had a cup of water.  Which he was currently making little drops of water float up into the air, and then plop back down.
“Yea, oddest thing. But one day, I just ‘woke-up’ and I didn’t feel empty inside.  Vexen was there, and he explained something about a theory about how if a heartless of a nobody dies, then the nobody dies. The heart finds its way back into the original body. I don’t know, something like that.” He let another drop plop back into his cup.  It felt weird having a heart beat in his chest after being without one for so long.  And here it was, beating away at a thousand miles just by talking with the teen.  His head felt dizzy, and he was having a hard time concentrating on making the water droplets drop into the cup.
“Really? Hmm, so who else is here?” He took a sip of his coffee, it was still hot.
“Well, there’s me, Larxene, Axel, Roxas, Namine, Zexion, Xaldin, Lexaus, Vexen, Saïx and Xigbar.” He counted on his fingers to make sure he had everyone that was here. “Oh yea, and Luxord and Marluxia.”
“Hmm, are they going to cause trouble?” Riku cocked an eyebrow at the water user. Who gave him an innocent look.
“They shouldn’t. Although I’m sure Axel will go on a pranking spree, and Xigbar, Luxord and Marluxia will be their usual pervy selves.” He sighed. Now Riku gave him an innocent look, he’d only seen them once or twice, but he hadn’t thought they might be perverts or anything.  Because at the time, he had been thinking of them as the enemy.
“Meaning, they’ll pretty much leave Sora and Kairi alone?” His friends came first.
“Unless Xemnas comes back.  Then I don’t know what will happen.”
“Xemnas hasn’t come back?”
“No, and it has Saïx up the wall.  Since he was always sucking up to him, he told me he feels useless without that thing around.”
“You and Xemnas never got a long did you?”
“No. He was a maniac.  I don’t know why he had let me in the organization.  Maybe it was because I thought I would be useful for something.” Resentment and something else hit Riku like a wave when he glanced into his eyes. What had they done to him? Whose smile now looked sadder, and caused his heart to ache. His hands itched to reach for the one that Demyx had lying on the table.
“Hey, if you ever need to talk, then you can talk to me.” He said calmly, surprising himself because he was sure that he was going to sound like Sora when he lied, a squeaky voice and a bright red face.
“Really? Thanks Riku.” The smile was a bit happier now. “It’s so strange having emotions again. It’s nice, but I’m still getting used to it.”
“So, you all can still use your abilities?”
“Yea, it’s kind of cool.  But since we aren’t an evil organization anymore, we have to keep it secret.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t say a word.” Demyx watched the smirk that had been on Riku’s face for the past half hour that they had been talking.  It wasn’t a smirk anymore, it was a genuine, fifty watt smile. “Is there anything else that I should know about? So I can warn Sora and Kairi if Roxas and Namine haven’t already?”

“Well, it’s the oddest thing, since we have our hearts and emotions again, our emotions can affect others. Like if Roxas and Sora were hanging out, and if Roxas was feeling sad, then Sora would feel it too.”
“Hmm,” Riku looked like he was thinking it over. And Demyx noticed how his lashes made little shadows under his eyes, and the way his eyes hid whatever he was thinking, only letting out little glimmers of thought. But unknown to Demyx, Riku was actually wondering, if Demyx was feeling love, and imposing it on him.

~

That night, Riku lay in his bed. His pillow over his head as he tried to block out the sound of his own heart beat. After he had parted ways with Demyx, he had headed home, did his homework, tutored Sora over the phone, ate dinner and taken a shower. But no matter how hard he tried to sleep, every time he closed his eyes, he’d see Demyx.  He wasn’t around him, and yet he felt like he was there with him. Finally something like sleep found him, and sent him away on a tide of dreams.

Demyx also was having a hard time sleeping. Now that he lived on the islands, it shouldn’t have been a problem sleeping, since he did enjoy ocean. But laying in the bed he was given, his thoughts kept drifting to the teen he had spent a good couple of hours with that day. His heart was racing, his head throbbed, his knees were weak, and he was sure if he were to stand, he would fall back on the bed.
“Demyx?” A voice asked from the door. Sitting up, he saw it was only Namine.  She’d probably had another bad dream.  And since Roxas slept like a rock, and the other members of the organization didn’t care for dreams, he’d listen to her.
“What is it Namine?” He tried to smile, but it looked pained.
“I-I had another nightmare...”  She sat down on the edge of the bed, her hands folded in her lap, as she looked down at them, biting her lip.
“I’m listening, if you want to talk that is.” His smile wasn’t so pained now, concern took over his face.  Namine liked that about him, he was one of the only members that was honest with his new emotions.
“Well, I was looking down on this, but, it started with this giant tidal wave, made of black water.” Demyx tensed, black water was a term used to emphasize deadly, un-charted waters in the sea.
“Go on,” He smiled, nodding to show he was listening.
“So, you were in the tidal wave, lost and reaching out for someone. I don’t know who but... you looked so scared, that I began to cry.  It was like you were so desperate for something, and then the wave crashed on the shore, right next to the school. A stream of students rushed out and began to trample you.  I couldn’t do anything to stop them, and the whole time, you didn’t cry out in pain, you just laid there. Like a broken doll.” Demyx took in her words.
“Namine, don’t worry. It was just a dream. So, go ahead and go back to bed. I’m sure it means nothing.” She looked at him, and then nodded. He was probably right.
“Alright, thanks for listening Demyx.” She gave him a hug before disappearing out the door to her room to sleep. Demyx laid back down, sleep still eluding him.  But every time he closed his eyes, he was sure he saw a white-haired teen, with a pair of aquamarine eyes that liked to hide what he was thinking.

~

Riku looked around. He was in the school. Odd, it’s the middle of the night, he thought. But looking up at the clocks, he saw that the arrows were melting off of them, and the numbers fell at his feet. He really did need to not eat anything right before bed. Padding down the school hallways, he finally came to the front doors, throwing them open wide, he saw a tidal wave of black water coming right for the school. Ducking inside as the water crashed into the walls of the school. Opening the door, he saw a figure laying on the ground. He ran out to assist him, but when he turned him over, he recognized him instantly. His dirty blonde hair was laying around his  face, his eyes were closed, and his breathing was shallow, but steady. He tried to awaken him by shaking his shoulder gently, but he remained out of it. But looking at Demyx, Riku gulped, his body was yelling, screaming pleading with him to touch him, to continue holding him close, to not let him go. He brushed some of the hairs out of his face, trying to remember every reason why he should just run.  But he couldn’t think of one, his senses were being placid because he was touching the other’s face. But then he had a thought, what if he stopped breathing... what would he do?  But he didn’t get to dwell on that long, as the familiar sea blue eyes opened a little, and a smile curled those perfect lips.
“Riku?”

Riku shot up like a flash. What in the hell was that about? He looked at his alarm clock, and almost panicked when he saw it was eight thirty in the morning, but then remembered, day off, teacher’s institute day. He flopped back down on the bed. What was that about? He rubbed the palms of his hands into his eyes, blocking out the glaring sunlight that streamed through his window. The feel of the other’s skin still lingered on his finger-tips, and his body still ached to be close to him. What was wrong with him?

Demyx was also stirring, he had dreamt Namine’s dream, except he actually experienced it. The turbulent water that knocked the breathe right out of him, constricting him from shouting even one word for help, then the painful crashing on the shore, and the feelings of hopelessness and desperation lingering on his body as he lay there, half-dead on the school grounds. Trying to get up on his hands and knees, he slid in the wet sand, tried again, but his body was exhausted from its ride at sea and he collapsed again.  He was just beginning to give up on any help, when he heard the sound of feet.  Thinking he was going to get trampled on, he tensed up. But instead the person got down on their knees, and flipped him over gently. Unable to open his eyes, he felt the person touch his face gently. It felt kind, hesitant like a teen’s, but gentle enough to show that the person was not going to hurt him. Opening his eyes slowly, he breathed the name of the person who held him.
Now, he was a little nervous.  How could he face Riku after a dream like that? His cheeks were twinged pink as a familiar pounding on the door told him that he needed to get out of bed.
“DEMYX! GET YOUR LAZY ASS UP RIGHT NOW!” Demyx flinched, yup Larxene was on wake-up duty.
“Alright, I’m getting up Larx.” He shouted, climbing out of the bed and getting into the small closet to pull out something to wear.  Then hurried downstairs, to the chaos of breakfast.

Downstairs, he pulled a box of cereal out of the cupboard; if he was quiet no one would notice him. But that was shattered as he felt a familiar pair of hands on his hips.
“Good morning Demy.” A voice whispered into his ear, the cherry blossom scent gave the man away.
“Marluxia.” He was tense, but that was typical whenever he was up to his early morning antics.
“Aww, that’s all you’ve got to say?” The voice sounded hurt, and then reached around him and grabbed the cereal from his hands.
“Hey! I was going to eat that!” Demyx turned around, and he was face to face with him. Those violet-blue eyes were plotting something, as usual, and the scent of cherry blossoms was over powering.
“Well, to me it looked like you were just standing there.” He cooed, Demyx blushed angrily.
“Well, what else do you expect when you’re just getting something out of the cupboard?” He pushed the flower user out of the way, grabbed his cereal and grabbed a bowl and spoon before sitting down, you do not come between Demyx and his breakfast. Where Namine, Roxas, Axel, and Luxord were already sitting.
“Good morning Demyx,” Namine smiled sleepily. She, Roxas, Sora and Kairi were going to explore the town today, and show them the sights.
“Hiya babe.” Luxord greeted, Demyx ignored him.  He had no clue why the members of the organization were hitting on him almost twenty-four seven, but he was getting tired of it.
“Shut up.” He grumbled, his sleepless night plus the dream had made him even sleepier.
“XALDIN! IF YOU DON’T GET YOUR LAZY OLD ASS OUT OF BED, I’LL SHOCK YOU ALL THE WAY TO THE WORLD THAT NEVER WAS AND BACK TWENTY TIMES!” The shout was heard from the second floor at the other end of the house.
“Damn, she’s being nice today, usually it’s a hundred times.” Xigbar joked, putting his coffee cup to his lips, scanning the newspaper for any sightings of their former leader. None were reported.
“Hey, twenty munny says that she won’t enter Zexion’s room.” Axel pointed a spoon at the gambler, who nodded.
“Thirty says she does.”
“You’re on!” They shook hands and Demyx laughed, the last time that Larxene had been on wake up duty, Zexion had thrown his giant book in her face, leaving the very famous ‘book-binding mark’ that he left on those who overly aggravated him.
“VEXEN! GET UP YOU OLD IDIOT!” The group held their breath, two doors before she got to Zexion’s.
“LEXAUS! UP NOW!”  Now only one.
“SAIX! GET YOUR LAZY ASS KISSING ASS OUT OF BED!” This was it, the final door was Zexion’s. It was quiet, and then there was the sound of feet on the stairs. Larxene walked into the kitchen still in her pajamas, she pulled a bagel out of the bread box, grabbed some jam and sat at the table.
“If you guys think I’m waking up that emo book-worm, then you’re sadly mistaken.”
“YES! I gets thirty munny.” Axel smirked, Luxord shrugged, and handed it over. You win some you loose some.

“God, who sent the harpy in so early in the morning?” Xaldin was coming down the stairs now.  Dressed, he grabbed a piece of toast as it popped out of the toaster.
“Sweet catch.” Xigbar grinned at him.
“Shut-up and drink your coffee.”  He growled, he wasn’t a  morning person.
“I want to know who the idiot is that thought up this ridiculous wake up duty.” It was Saïx now, his yellow eyes were glowing dangerously.
“If you must know idiot, it was you.” It was Zexion coming down the stairs, followed by Lexaus.  Larxene’s yelling had wakened him up.
“Well guys, Roxas and I are going to head out! We’ll see you guys later!” Namine grabbed his wrist and started heading towards the door.
“Yea, I think I’ll head out for awhile too.” Demyx picked up their bowls, as well as his own, placed them in the dishwasher.
“Well, we’ve got to head to work.” Xigbar and Xaldin said at once. They had both taken pushing paper jobs.
“Pfft, there’s a reason why you get night jobs fellas, you get to sleep in.” Luxord stretched, his job was a black-jack dealer at a local casino. And dealer won every time.
“Demyx, do you want someone to come with you?” Axel asked, Demyx shook his head.
“Nah, I’m fine. I’m not the same weakling that I once was.” His voice for once stayed steady, he shut the door behind him, and those left stared after him.
“Wow, did he just tell someone ‘no’ with a straight face?” Larxene asked, looking up from her bagel.
“Yup, our little Demy’s growing up!” Xigbar pretended to be emotional about it, but only got smacked in the back of the head by a newspaper. “Hey, it’s just a joke!” He grinned.
“Well Axel, it looks like it’s you me and Larxene today, unless Zexion and Lexaus want to come along.” Marluxia grinned, that evil grin was on his face again.
“Look Marluxia, as much as I want to go flower shopping with you, I’ll honestly have to pass. I have homework.”  His face blanched, the pyro definitely hated flower shopping, but that was only because he didn’t get to touch the flowers for fear of burning them.
“Whatever, you’ll miss out on the festival that the town is holding.” Larxene wiped her mouth with a napkin, and started to head up the stairs to go get dressed.
“Bye guys.” Xaldin had to practically shove Xigbar out the door. The man hated work, and would stall in anyway possible, following behind was Vexen, off to the pharmacy.
“See you later tonight.” He shouted over his shoulder, then as a second thought because of the three that remained. “Behave.”
“Yes mother.” Marluxia snickered, Vexen rolled his eyes.  He’d get him for that later tonight.

~

Demyx was sitting on the beach, the ocean breeze pulling at his loose clothing and hair. It felt so refreshing, to just sit and think.
“DEMYX!” A familiar voice got his attention, turning towards it, he instantly blushed. It was Riku, he looked a little frazzled, and exhausted, maybe he had also had trouble sleeping.

“Hey Riku!”  Riku looked around, hopped over the fence that was blocking the road from the beach, and ran over, taking a seat next to him.  “Wow, who are you and what have you done with Riku?”  Demyx laughed. Riku really did look frazzled and under his eyes were darkened circles.
“This is how I am after I don’t get a good night’s sleep. A lie, he was really just glad to see that Demyx was here. At the moment, every time he was close to him, he felt electricity, fire, ice and various other intense feelings welling in his stomach and his heart. It had only been a day, and he felt desperate for some reason.
“Ah, Namine had a hard time sleeping last night too.” Demyx thought aloud.  Riku noticed the dark circles under his eyes.
“And I’m guessing you didn’t sleep well either?”
“Yea, when I was a nobody, I didn’t have nightmares or dreams or anything. Sleeping was just a way of recharging.  And if I did dream, it was only memories of my somebody, well of my past, when I was Edym.” Demyx rambled, Riku could see the sheepish smile as he tried to explain.
“Really....” He looked like he was thinking about it. His knees drawn up to his chest, his shoes kicked off with the water licking at them, and his arms crossed on top of his knees, with his head resting there. Demyx’s head reeled as he watched the breeze snatch at the tendrils of silver. But unknown to him, Riku was actually watching him, his relaxed position , arms behind him, his own shoes off and deep in the water.  The wind blowing at the loose fabric of his shirt, and Riku suddenly was hit with a vision of ripping that shirt off of him. His cheeks turned pink for a brief second, but he could see those sea blue eyes watching him.

“What?” Riku asked after awhile of being watched.
“Nothing, I just find it funny how different you are from Sora and Kairi.”

In the bushes though, four pairs of eyes watched the pair on the beach.
“Ugh, when will they do something!” It was Kairi whose impatience was getting the better of her. They had been walking down the boardwalk, heading towards town when they had seen Riku run up to the fence, jump it and go sit next to the water user.
“Who even says that they like each other?” Sora asked, he knew that Riku didn’t date, but would he really be gay?
“I don’t know, but look at them! They’re like two love sick puppies! We just have to get them together!” Namine giggled in a whisper.
“Besides, it’s just your guys’ assumptions.  What if they both just have really bad gas?” It was Roxas speaking; he gained a smack to the back of the head by Kairi.
“How crude! Just look at them, in their eyes you can really tell.” She began, but was interrupted by a new voice.
“Tell what?” The girls nearly shrieked so loud, that the two on the beach looked over at them.
“Axel!”  Roxas and Sora groaned in unison.
“What? What’s going on?” He tried to sneak a peek at the two on the beach.
“Well, it’s easy, love!” Kairi smiled. Axel finally got around them, and looked.
“Holy shit, you can totally tell.” Axel smirked, he could see it in Demyx’s eyes as he talked and Riku listened.
“What?” Sora and Roxas were both stunned, how could Axel see this elusive thing?
“Sora, look with your heart, look at their eyes, and you’ll see it.”

“Hey, did you hear something?”  Demyx looked over his shoulder; he could have sworn he had heard two girls squeal.
“I think it’s time we found a more secluded spot. I think there are spies in the bushes.” Riku stood up, wiped the sand off of him, and offered a hand to Demyx. Demyx took it, and kept it because Riku had begun to lead him someplace.  Of course, before they left the beach, Riku stopped over at the bushes, parted them, and out popped five heads.
“I knew it.” A smirk on his face as if he had won something.
“Axel, Roxas, Namine even? I feel so betrayed,” Demyx laughed.
“C’mon Demyx, I know a place where we can go.”  He took his hand again, and began to lead him to another place.

“See! We told you!” Kairi giggled once they were out of ear shot.
“Well, they could have just been talking.” Roxas still the skeptic.
“Not with those blushes, oh my damn, we have a regular little Romeo and Juliet.” Axel smirked; he’d bug him about it later, once they’d had some time alone.
“Who do you think would be the guy?” Namine asked for curiosity’s sake, the group looked at each other, and in unison said “Riku.”

~

As they were heading to a better place to talk, it started to rain.
“Riku! Where are we going?” Demyx asked, he didn’t mind the rain. He was well used to it because of the world that never was.
“To my hiding spot, not even Sora or Kairi know about it.” His face was still set serious, but when Demyx caught a glimpse of his face, he could see the blush that was attacking his pale face. But at the moment, his mind was on the fact that Riku was holding his hand.  What did that mean? They were friends? More then friends? Best Friends? More then best friends even? Did Riku like him as much as he liked him. That’s when it hit him, that’s why he’d been so weak around him, he liked him, and apparently a lot.

Riku on the other hand, was wondering at why Demyx hadn’t let go of his hand.  Did that mean that he liked him too?  But when he realized that he liked him, he was suddenly hit with a thought... if he liked Demyx, then what would the others say? Call him a ‘traitor’? Or just be alright with it? He wasn’t sure, but his heart was thudding in his ears, he was blushing, and he knew it wasn’t a quick small one either, and a quick glance over his shoulder said that Demyx was also blushing, and it wasn’t small at all.

“Here we are.” It was a small cave, far from town, far from the pier, far from everything, more inland but you could still here the sea, and the rain that thudded on the roof.
“Wow, it’s amazing that no one’s found it.” Demyx looked inside, it was a decent sized cave; you could have built a small house inside.

“That’s because I hid it before we left.  I didn’t want anyone to find it. Well, get inside it’s raining.” He motioned for him to get in, Demyx walked inside and Riku covered the entrance with palm leaves, it blocked out the rain pretty well. Demyx sat down on a rock shelf that jutted out of the wall.  And Riku started a fire from some supplies he had hidden deeper in the cave.  Then joined him on the rock shelf. Soon, a roaring fire was drying them, and making the cave cozy.

“So, why did you hide in here?” Demyx asked quietly. Unsure of why he was asking about the teen’s personal life, but he wanted to know everything about him.
“Well, when I was a little kid, I just wanted to be alone at times.  Sora was clingy, and Kairi was just as bad.  But you know when you just want to go sit somewhere and be quiet, this is the place I found to do that.” It wasn’t much, but it was actually quite comfortable for a cave.
“Oh,” He became quiet again. And decided to warm his hands against the fire.

The steady down pour, and the warmth of the fire was quickly sending Riku towards sleep, and he leaned his head against Demyx’s shoulder. Demyx was a little startled by the sudden closeness of him, the blush he had earlier only rivaled the one on his face now.
“Ri-?” He was interrupted by Riku’s quiet words.
“You’re shoulder’s comfortable.” He could smell seawater coming off of Demyx’s clothes.  It was surrounding him and drowning him in wants and desires that he knew he shouldn’t wish of the other.
“Riku? Um... This might be awkward but... I think I like you.” The last part was hardly spoken, and Riku almost missed it. Riku sat up, and stared in his face for a minute.  Demyx’s face was set to rejection, his face was bright red, and he looked like he expected to be hit. Riku took his face in his hands, gently so he didn’t frighten him.  Then captured his lips with his own. Demyx was shocked, more then shocked actually, astonished? No, not quite it, amazed? Close, but not quite the word he was looking for maybe relief? Yea, that was it. Relief.

Relief spread over both of the teens, Riku didn’t say anything; he’d never been good with words. He’d always been a physical type of person.  Demyx also didn’t say anything, just being in the other’s attention, his spotlight, and in his arms was good for now.  Riku was tentatively exploring his mouth with his tongue, he was still being gentle, rougher stuff could come later. Demyx was twining the pieces of silver around his fingers, holding him close, enjoying the kiss as much as he could, feeling Riku’s touch as he teased the hem of his shirt, either about to rip it off, or to slip his hands underneath. Riku’s hands dove under the shirt, feeling the soft skin of the other, tracing faint muscles, making circles and any other design he could think of as he teased the other’s skin with gentle finger strokes, causing quiet moans to escape from the other. Demyx’s fingers untwined from the fragments of silver, slipped down his shoulders, down his sides and rested on his hips.

All too soon, Riku broke off the kiss.  Leaving them both wanting more, but giving them a taste of each other had satisfied them some.
“C’mon, I think it stopped raining.” Riku offered a hand to the now clumsy Demyx. Demyx took it gratefully.  His face was flushed, and he was sure that it would remain flushed well into the night.
“What do we tell the others?” His fingers twined with Riku’s.

“Just tell them, you followed your heart.” Riku smirked.  But Demyx could see a glimmer in his eyes, a thought? Probably, of what he wasn’t sure, but he could stare into those aquamarine eyes, forever. Looking back at Demyx, Riku could see that there was something glowing in those sea blue eyes, could it be love? He didn’t know, but he liked the way they glowed,  the two left the safety of the cave, and headed into town, hands still entwined as they ran into their friends.

Well since I was in an internetless Hell for a week, I asked :iconfishy2010: if he wanted a fanfic. He said yes, and asked for either a Leon/Demyx or a Riku/Demyx. Well I decided to do Riku/Demyx because I honestly can only see Leon with Cloud or Seifer. ^^; So anyways, this is my useless dribbling about Riku/Demyx. And As I mentioned in the opening, I have no set feelings for this, but I can say this much.

It was a lot of fun writing this ^^;

Fishy, I do hope you enjoy this! ^_^

Oh and characters don't belong to me..

I told one of my friends about it (She's our Larxene, and she's dating our Riku) I had to explain that I wasn't interested in him (Because I'm the Demyx ^^; ) But I got her interested because I told her Larxene is alive.
